Remove the Company through the Open Company List
When you open an organization file in QuickBooks, the program provides you with a summary of available company files to pick from. The greater amount of files in the list, the greater the chance you'll accidentally choose the wrong file and work with the incorrect company. If you'd like to remove a business file through the list  you don't want to permanently delete the file, you can edit the businesses that QuickBooks displays on startup.

Remove Companies from QuickBooks Online

The process of removing QuickBook files is slightly different in QuickBooks online. If you're listed as a user on a QuickBooks online account, the business file continues to appear when you sign on so long as you are listed as a person for the company. You can not delete your own personal account, so an administrator must delete your user account for you.
